Woman found dead in Otjiwarongo flat

Police investigate multiple stab wounds after ex-boyfriend dies in road incident.

Kamilla Rickerts, 34, was found dead with multiple stab wounds in her ex-boyfriend’s flat in Otjiwarongo on Sunday. Police confirmed that Jovin Diergaardt, her ex-boyfriend, allegedly picked her up on Saturday and took her to his flat. Diergaardt later died in a road incident near Swakopmund on Sunday morning.

Otjozondjupa police spokesperson senior inspector Maureen Mbeha stated that preliminary investigations suggest Kamilla was last seen with Diergaardt around midday on Saturday. Diergaardt reportedly travelled to Swakopmund and died about 15km from the town towards Arandis, with police indicating he may have jumped in front of a moving truck. Kamilla had recently moved to Otjiwarongo and had been there for a week before her death.

Heinrich Rickerts, Kamilla’s brother, described her as his best friend and confidante, noting she helped raise their niece and younger sister. Kamilla, who would have turned 35 on November 14, will be buried near Rehoboth next Saturday. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing, and they have cautioned against spreading unverified information.
