Niger launched its "Octobre Rose" campaign to raise awareness about female cancers, with approximately 395 cases diagnosed in 2025. The initiative aims to encourage women to undergo screenings for breast and cervical cancers.
Dr. Ramatoulaye Diop Cissé, Director General of the Afoua clinic, explained that a special space is available for patients and doctors to discuss concerns openly, away from clinical pressure. The clinic has also organized a three-day screening caravan in Harkanassou and an art exhibition on October 24th.
For six years, free screenings for precancerous cervical lesions and breast cancer have been offered, alongside training on self-examination. The campaign utilizes various channels, including media support and involvement from artists and different social groups, to spread its message.
