Rotary Club seeks community partnerships for youth opportunities
Rwanda Automobile Club president Christian Gakwaya sees motorsport as an industry creating jobs for engineers and mechanics.
The Rotary Club is seeking community partnerships to support local needs, empower vulnerable groups, and create youth opportunities as Rwanda aims for a larger role in international motorsport. Charles Habba of the Rotary Club stated the organisation wants to use its network for practical projects, especially for children, people with disabilities, and vulnerable individuals.
Habba explained the club identifies community challenges and mobilises resources, noting initiatives supporting children with disabilities and cancer patients. He also mentioned a potential collaboration for piped water access in Bugesera as an example of improving living conditions. The Rwanda Automobile Club President, Christian Gakwaya, views motorsport as an industry creating jobs for engineers, mechanics, and technicians.
Gakwaya emphasised preparing young Rwandans for motorsport careers through specialised training and partnerships with educational institutions. He highlighted potential local vehicle manufacturing and automotive innovation, aiming for domestic technical capacity rather than imported expertise. Achieving these ambitions requires investment in infrastructure, skills, and a supportive automotive industry environment.
