Ombudsman challenges Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation law
The Constitutional Court will decide if parts of the new SBC law violate the constitution.
Seychelles' Commission for Human Rights and the Office of the Ombudsman have asked the Constitutional Court to rule on whether certain provisions in the new Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) law are unconstitutional. These two institutions filed a petition with the court against the President, the Attorney General, and the SBC.
The petition challenges the new SBC law, seeking a decision on its constitutional validity. The Commission for Human Rights and the Ombudsman are the bodies responsible for upholding citizens' rights and investigating administrative injustices.
The Constitutional Court will now consider the petition. The outcome will determine the legality of the challenged provisions within the SBC law.
