Sierra Leone delegation seeks Rwandan farm investment

Officials and private sector representatives are in Rwanda for a week to explore agricultural partnerships and technology transfer.

Sierra Leone's Deputy Minister II of Agriculture, Ing. Bryan Smart-Kanu, is leading a delegation to Rwanda to find agricultural investment and build partnerships. The group arrived on October 25, 2026, for a week-long tour to boost the nation's farming sector. This visit supports Sierra Leone's goal to attract investment and speed up the Feed Salone programme.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) facilitated the trip, allowing Sierra Leonean officials and business leaders to share knowledge with Rwandan counterparts. They are examining farming methods and looking for areas for bilateral investment. The delegation includes people from poultry, cassava, and coffee sectors, discussing value chains, modern techniques, and extension services.

The tour, ending October 31, 2026, aims to identify practical lessons and investment prospects adaptable to Sierra Leone. These efforts are part of the Feed Salone programme, which seeks to increase domestic food production and food self-sufficiency. The experience gained is expected to help promote sustainable agricultural growth in Sierra Leone.
