Somalia police enter Hormuud headquarters

Police entered two Hormuud company premises in Mogadishu on Sunday under a court warrant.

Somalia’s police entered two Hormuud company premises in Mogadishu on Sunday, including its headquarters in Bakara Market and its main management headquarters on the road leading to the airport. Investigations are underway under a court warrant, Somali Stream reported.

Initial reports suggest the investigation is linked to recent developments in Southwest state, where forces loyal to former regional president Abdiasis Laftagaren have retaken major towns in Bay region. The federal government previously imposed economic sanctions on Mr. Laftagaren’s administration and anyone who co-operates with it.

These advances reverse gains made by the federal government during a March offensive that ousted Mr. Laftagaren and his administration. The federal government has not announced further steps regarding the investigation or the situation in Southwest state.
