bedridden woman appeals for house

The 95-year-old woman shares a single room with her family and needs a private space for care.

A 95-year-old bedridden woman in Eswatini is appealing for help to build a house.

Gogo Makomane Mawelela, paralysed after a car accident, currently shares a single room with her son, daughter-in-law, and two children. She depends on caregivers for daily needs and to treat painful skin sores from prolonged lying. The cramped conditions make private care difficult, prompting her appeal for a house of her own. The Nkwene Youth Charity Organisation sometimes provides food but lacks resources for her broader needs.

Mbuso Sibandze of the Nkwene Youth Charity Organisation stated that washing and caring for a sick grandmother in a small room with children is extremely difficult. He appealed to Good Samaritans for assistance, noting the organisation's limited capacity to meet Mawelela's needs.
