Eswatini names Malta friendly squad
Interim coach Dominic Kunene recalls midfielder Quality Dlamini for November 12 match.
Eswatini's national football team, Sihlangu, will play Malta in a friendly on November 12. Interim Head Coach Dominic Kunene is expected to include Nsingizini Hotspurs midfielder Quality Dlamini in the squad. Dlamini's inclusion follows his improved performances in the MTN Premier League, including a recent goal against Mbabane Highlanders AM. The team will also likely feature Justice Figuareido, who plays for Chippa United in South Africa.
Kunene, who was appointed interim head coach on October 30, will lead Sihlangu for the first time since his return to the technical bench. He will be assisted by Caleb Ngwenya, with Siza Dlamini and Thokozani Mamba serving as goalkeeper and fitness coaches, respectively. The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) stated this interim arrangement allows preparations to continue while a permanent head coach is finalised.
The EFA is reportedly in discussions with a Moroccan coach for the substantive head coach position, with a potential memorandum of understanding with Moroccan football authorities. The incoming permanent coach may join the team during the November international window and could travel to Malta. The match against Malta will be Eswatini's first international friendly against a European nation, kicking off at 6:30pm at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium.
