Moyen-Chari health officials meet to boost vaccination

Provincial health officials and UNICEF are holding a four-day workshop in Moyen-Chari to improve vaccination coverage and disease detection.

Provincial health officials in Chad's Moyen-Chari province are holding a strategic workshop from October 27 to 30, 2026, to improve vaccination campaign results and disease detection. The meeting, supported by UNICEF, brings together chief physicians from 10 health districts and traditional leaders to assess progress, identify challenges, and plan actions. Interim provincial health delegate Dr. Nehoulné Gaston highlighted the workshop's importance for child protection against preventable diseases.

The workshop aims to measure progress in vaccination and epidemiological surveillance between January and September 2026. Dr. Gaston noted efforts to reach remote populations but cited obstacles including unvaccinated children, access difficulties, vaccine stockouts, and poor health data collection. Moyen-Chari provincial secretary general Fidèle Kodé Ngolo urged participants to propose concrete solutions to enhance district health performance.

The recommendations from this workshop will be used to strengthen health interventions and improve access to vaccination services across the Moyen-Chari province. The provincial health delegation and UNICEF are working together to address the identified issues and boost overall health outcomes for the region's residents.
