Togo mayor postpones CNCC meeting

A planned information rally by the CNCC in Atikoumé has been cancelled due to venue unavailability, according to the local mayor.

A planned information rally by the Cadre national de concertation pour le changement (CNCC) in Atikoumé, Zio 1 commune, has been postponed. The meeting, scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026, will no longer take place as the designated venue is unavailable.

Mayor Dr. Atatsi Ayawo of Zio 1 informed the CNCC organizers in a letter dated October 19 that the Atikoumé site is occupied by other activities. He advised them to consider rescheduling the event for a later date.

The CNCC meeting aimed to mobilize supporters around the slogan "No to permanent coups, yes to the restoration of C92." The rally was intended to protest the 2024 constitutional reform and advocate for a return to the 1992 Constitution.

Why it mattersTogo citizens who support the CNCC's call to protest constitutional changes are affected because their planned rally has been postponed.
