Semia Setti's new novel sells out at Tunis book fair

The author's second book, "Je suis née à six ans," explores childhood trauma and self-reconstruction.

Semia Setti's new novel, "Je suis née à six ans," published in October 2026 by Arcadia Tunisie, sold out its initial stock at the ongoing National Book Fair in Tunis. Readers will need to wait until next week for the book to be available in Tunisian bookstores.

The novel's title, "I was born at six years old," refers to a profound childhood separation experienced at an airport. The narrative focuses on the pain of separation and the subsequent process of self-reconstruction, with the author using concrete details to convey emotional distress.

This is Setti's second novel published by Arcadia Tunisie; her first, "Aimer n'a pas suffi," was released in August 2025 under the pseudonym Sam Bröcheler. The author has now chosen to use her real name, Semia Setti, for this latest publication.

Why it mattersTunisian readers are directly affected by the unavailability of a newly released novel by a local author.
