CAF delegation praises Tanzania's 2027 AFCON readiness

Inspectors noted progress on stadiums and infrastructure, with playing surfaces showing visible growth.

A Confederation of African Football (CAF) delegation, led by General Secretary Samson Adamu, expressed satisfaction with Tanzania’s progress in preparing to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The inspectors visited infrastructure in Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, and Arusha, acknowledging advancements toward meeting tournament requirements.

Leodegar Tenga, chairman of the AFCON Local Organising Committee, reported that nearly all commitments to CAF are met, with ongoing work on stadium enhancements, particularly the playing surfaces. Grass has been planted and is expected to grow visibly within two to three weeks, addressing a key area of focus.

Improvements to access roads near stadiums are also in progress, with the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) involved. Hospitality facilities for dignitaries are being built, alongside considerations for ordinary fans, visiting families, and football tourists to ensure a positive experience and promote Tanzania's tourism.
