The new route aims to boost trade, tourism, and investment between East and West Africa.

Uganda Airlines has begun direct flights between Entebbe and Accra, Ghana, creating a new air link between East and West Africa. The service operates four times weekly, aiming to facilitate trade, tourism, and investment.

Minister of Works and Transport Fred Byamukama stated the route will reduce travel time from up to 10 hours to a maximum of five hours. He highlighted the service's role in strengthening people-to-people relations and supporting continental initiatives like the Single African Air Transport Market.

State Minister for Planning Amos Lugoloobi identified potential Ugandan exports for West Africa, including coffee, tea, and pharmaceuticals. He also noted the route's potential to attract Ghanaian investment in Uganda's manufacturing and ICT sectors.

Why it mattersUgandan businesses and investors can now access West African markets more easily, and Ghanaian investors can explore opportunities in Uganda.
