five polls show MK party ahead of ANC in Durban

Jacob Zuma's MK Party leads the ANC in five election polls for eThekwini municipality ahead of November 4 polls.

Five election polls indicate the MK Party, led by Jacob Zuma, is poised to defeat the ANC in the eThekwini municipality. The latest eNCA/MarkData survey shows MK with 48% support, while the ANC trails in third place with 14.5%. The DA holds 25.2% and the IFP 6% in this survey released on Sunday, October 25.

These findings suggest Zuma's party could control KwaZulu-Natal's largest municipality after the November 4 elections. Four other surveys conducted recently also place MK ahead of the ANC in eThekwini. An Ipsos survey in September showed MK at 55% and the ANC at 10%, while an earlier Social Research Foundation survey in July gave MK 33% and the ANC 18%.

Service delivery failures, particularly water shortages and flood damage response, are cited as reasons for voter frustration, with 74.6% of respondents blaming the ANC. Despite its lead, MK faces a challenge to secure an outright majority, and voter turnout and coalition agreements could be decisive.
