Chinsali council seeks business input for 2027 budget

Local authorities met with traders to align proposed development projects with district priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.

Chinsali Municipal Council has begun consulting its business community on the 2027 Output-Based Budget. The aim is to ensure that planned projects and programs align with the district's development priorities. Council Public Relations Manager Lolavye Simukoko stated that this engagement offers a platform for stakeholders to contribute ideas and suggest projects for the 2027 financial year.

The meetings are part of the council's commitment to fostering public participation in the budgeting process. Presentations covered services offered by the local authority, the performance of the 2026 budget, and the role of the Council’s Integrity Committee. Simukoko emphasized that the consultations also aim to ensure proposed projects align with the Chinsali Integrated Development Plan, the Eighth National Development Plan, and the national Grow Zambia Agenda.

During the discussions, business representatives proposed several initiatives. These included the construction of an ablution block and fencing for the Council sports facility, and the placement of waste bins in the Central Business District to improve sanitation. Other suggestions involved building a transit bus station at Nambuluma Junction, constructing additional council housing, and renovating the community hall at the old market.
