Man denies paternity of child heard through rumours

A 23-year-old man told the Kabushi Local Court he cannot accept responsibility for a child he only heard about from neighbours.

Rafael Mwamba, 23, of Main Masala, told the Kabushi Local Court on October 31, 2026, that he cannot accept responsibility for his ex-girlfriend’s baby. Mwamba stated he only learned about the pregnancy and birth through rumours from neighbours and friends.

He insisted that he cannot accept a child he only heard about through rumours, maintaining that his ex-girlfriend never personally informed him of her pregnancy. This statement was made during a court hearing concerning the child's paternity.

The court heard testimony from Mwamba regarding his lack of direct knowledge of the pregnancy. The case proceeded with arguments about the evidence of paternity presented.

Why it mattersA man is denying paternity of a child because he claims he only heard about the pregnancy and birth through rumours.
