Artisanal miners went on the rampage at Wanderer Mine Site Number 4 this Tuesday, destroying property belonging to Chengxi Chengetai Investments. The miners allegedly set fire to five excavators and beat up uniformed police officers.
The violence erupted after security personnel ordered the artisanal miners to leave the mine premises. Property worth thousands of United States dollars was reportedly destroyed during the incident.
Police were called to the scene to quell the disturbance. The full extent of the damage and the number of arrests are not yet known.
