Invictus Energy faces funding squeeze for Musuma drilling

The Australian-listed firm has A$7.97 million cash but quarterly outgoings of A$2.85 million.

Australian-listed Invictus Energy faces a funding challenge preparing to drill its Musuma-1 exploration well in northern Zimbabwe. The oil and gas explorer had A$7.97 million (US$5.6 million) in cash and cash equivalents as at September 30, against quarterly cash outgoings of A$2.85 million (US$2.0 million).

Invictus disclosed in its September 2026 quarterly activities and cash flow report that it had no available loan facilities, credit standby arrangements, or other financing facilities at the end of the reporting period. This raises questions about how the company will fund further exploration as its drilling programme gathers momentum.

The company's cash reserves could cover less than three quarters of expenditure at current levels.

Why it mattersInvictus Energy's limited cash reserves and lack of loan facilities may affect its planned oil and gas exploration in Zimbabwe.
