Zimbabwe police warn sellers over vehicle ownership

Zimbabwean police have warned motorists that they could still be held responsible for traffic violations committed by subsequent drivers if ownership is not officially transferred after a sale. National police spokesperson Paul Nyathi stated that vehicle owners are required to change ownership within two weeks according to current regulations.
Nyathi explained that sellers could be treated as traffic offenders if buyers fail to register vehicles in their own names, highlighting a common issue where ownership transfers are neglected. He made these remarks during a road safety engagement with journalists.
The police aim to enforce stricter adherence to vehicle registration procedures as authorities expand electronic traffic monitoring systems across the country.
