35 participants completed over 150 hours of training on maritime security and illicit trafficking.
35 military and civilian personnel from the Gulf of Guinea and partner countries completed maritime security training in Cotonou on October 23, 2026. The training took place aboard the French Mistral helicopter carrier.
The fifth edition of SIREN, organized by the French Navy and the Yaoundé architecture, focused on illicit trafficking, illegal fishing, pollution, and search and rescue. Participants received over 150 hours of instruction, including land-based phases in France and practical exercises at sea.
The training aims to improve coordination and information sharing among maritime security actors, including navies, customs, and police. The Mistral's visit to Cotonou, part of the Corymbe cooperation program, includes discussions on ship boarding operations and diving.
