FNB Botswana profit climbs 12% on transaction surge
Higher foreign-exchange earnings and fee-based business boosted FNB Botswana's profit before tax to P2.117 billion in FY2026.
FNB Botswana reported a 12 percent increase in profit before tax, reaching P2.117 billion for the financial year 2026. This growth was driven by increased transaction volumes and foreign-exchange earnings, which offset slower credit demand.
The bank's non-interest revenue jumped 30 percent to P2.314 billion, largely due to a 113 percent surge in foreign-exchange income to P970 million. Acting Chief Financial Officer Orapeleng Senwelo and Treasurer Tshepiso Mokgethi-Magapa highlighted the resilience of the bank's diversified business model.
Management attributed the financial performance to strong foreign-exchange income, increased digital transaction volumes, and continued momentum in fee-based services. Prudent lending practices and sound liquidity management also contributed to the results.
