Armed men cause fear in Lubero

Residents of Mwenye, in Lubero territory, Nord-Kivu, are living in fear due to the presence of armed men.

A new security concern has gripped residents of Mwenye, within the Baswagha chiefdom in Lubero territory, Nord-Kivu. The presence of armed men in the Mwenye community has revived fear among the inhabitants.

In Kayna, a commune in southern Lubero territory, a climate of fear has prevailed since October 28. The area, occupied by the Front pour la refondation de la nation (FRN), formerly AFC/M23, has experienced a series of arrests and violent acts following the assassination of three FRN members on October 18.

The FRN's occupation of Kayna has led to significant unrest and insecurity for the local population.
