MRC warns Cameroon faces implosion

The party calls for a presidential vacancy declaration and interim leadership amid economic and social crises.

The Mouvement pour la renaissance du Cameroun (MRC) warned on October 28, 2026, that Cameroon is on the verge of general implosion. The party cited a catastrophic business climate, with public investment spending down 74.4% in 2026, empty state coffers, and deep social unrest. They also pointed to political anger over Maurice Kamto's exclusion from the 2025 presidential election and a constitutional change on April 16, 2026.

According to the MRC, these factors indicate the country is a 'boiling volcano' that could erupt at any moment due to governmental democratic blockages, particularly concerning elections. The party's statement, signed by its new president Tiriane Balbine Noah, calls for competent authorities to declare a vacancy in the presidency based on the 1996 Constitution. They propose the Senate president takes interim charge and that a consensual electoral code be adopted before new elections.

The party's analysis projects an uncertain future for Cameroon, which is currently awaiting the convocation of the electoral body for legislative and municipal elections.
