Tusker Minerals gets nod for 21 Cameroon permits
Australian miner's applications recommended for approval but await final administrative steps.
Australian mining company Tusker Minerals received a favorable recommendation for 21 exploration permit applications in Cameroon on October 30, 2026. The interministerial committee recommended approval for permits under its Central Rutile project, adding to the previously granted Nsimbo permit. These applications, if finalized, will cover 9,152 square kilometers across 22 areas, including the Yaoundé West project.
The recommendation is subject to Tusker Minerals fulfilling several administrative and legal requirements, including updating tax, legal, and administrative documents. The company must also sign exploration agreements before ministerial orders can be issued. No confirmed timetable exists for the final issuance of these permits, which remain pending.
Laboratory analysis of collected samples is experiencing delays due to additional preparation, mineral separation, and quality control procedures. Tusker Minerals is processing samples from hand-auger drilling and soil samples at its specialized heavy-mineral laboratory in Yaoundé.
