Simenti launches instrumental album Minimal in Praia
The six-member group Simenti will present their new album, Minimal, in its entirety at a free concert in Praia.
Cape Verdean group Simenti has released a new instrumental album titled "Minimal" in Praia. The album's title track inspired its name, reflecting a musical approach rooted in Cape Verdean traditions while incorporating urban rhythms and contemporary influences. The group, comprising Ndu Carlos, Gilmar, Elias, Nene, Alex Figueiredo, and Dino, consists of musicians with established individual careers who have collaborated with prominent Cape Verdean artists.
According to InSulada, "Minimal" offers an innovative take on Cape Verdean instrumental music, positioning it as a space for experimentation and artistic expression. The group will perform the entire album at a concert, followed by a Q&A session about the music and creative process. Entry to the event is free with a ticket, available in advance at the Palácio da Cultura Ildo Lobo.
Simenti, a project of the Xintidu label, has also prepared a limited edition of merchandise, including T-shirts and tote bags designed with artist Lua Oliveira. This collection aims to build the group's visual identity and connect their music with other art forms. The group has further performances planned across other islands in the archipelago.
