Algérie Poste urges card security measures

The postal service reminds cardholders to protect their PIN and keep cards visible during transactions.

Algérie Poste is reminding customers to adopt security measures when using electronic payment terminals (TPE) to prevent fraud. The service emphasizes that the security of card transactions relies heavily on user behavior, particularly concerning the confidential PIN code.

Customers are urged to never share their PIN with anyone, including merchants or callers, and to shield their hand while entering it on the terminal keypad. Algérie Poste also warns against fake phone calls from individuals claiming to be postal agents who request PINs or SMS-sent OTP codes. The rule is that a shared PIN is a compromised PIN.

Cardholders must also ensure their bank card remains visible throughout the entire transaction, from start to finish, and should never let it be taken behind a counter. Finally, customers are reminded to retrieve their card after payment is validated to avoid it being left behind, which could enable fraudulent operations.
