Cyberattack caused Cairo billboard porn
Cybersecurity expert Haitham Salah-Eddin said a Brazilian national likely hacked the system managing ads in Egypt and Brazil.
A cybersecurity expert revealed that pornographic content displayed on a Cairo billboard was the result of a cyberattack on an international company managing advertising systems, not a breach of the billboard itself. Haitham Salah-Eddin explained on Saturday that the Egyptian company owning the screen had leased it to an international firm that manages advertising across four countries, including Brazil. The hacker gained remote control over content displayed on screens in these nations.
Salah-Eddin stated on MBC Masr that recent information suggests a Brazilian national is behind the hack. He noted this type of attack has occurred in Germany and England this year, with motives varying from seeking attention to demanding financial rewards. Some attacks, like one in France, carry political messages intended to erode public trust in government safety measures.
The expert warned that cyberattacks are expanding beyond websites to internet-connected devices, citing an incident in France where 700 smart refrigerators were hacked, causing food spoilage. This incident affected stores across France and other European countries, following a similar event in August.
