FC AshantiGold sack coach Zito and two assistants
Ghana Premier League club dismisses technical team over poor results and internal disunity.
Ghana Premier League side FC AshantiGold 04 terminated the contracts of Head Coach Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito, Assistant Coach Ernest Okyere, and Goalkeepers’ Trainer Robert Dabo on October 27, 2026. The Obuasi-based club announced the decision, which took immediate effect, following a consultative meeting of its Interim Management Committee on Monday, October 26.
FC AshantiGold CEO Edward Kwasi Akuoko attributed the dismissals to inconsistent results and disunity within the technical team. The club has won three of their eight matches this season, placing them 11th in the league with 11 points, and Akuoko cited poor away performances and reports of discord among staff as reasons for the action.
Karim Zito had joined AshantiGold in February 2026, guiding them to promotion to the Ghana Premier League. A caretaker coach will now manage the team until a new substantive head coach and technical director are appointed.
