Ghana envoy expects US police to identify teen killer

Ambassador Victor Emmanuel Smith seeks motive for the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Javits Badu Nkansah Frimpong in New York.

Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, expects American investigators to identify those responsible for shooting 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager Javits Badu Nkansah Frimpong in New York. He called for a comprehensive investigation into the motive for the killing on Monday, November 2, and whether it was linked to school bullying allegations.

Ambassador Smith believes surveillance recordings could provide leads, despite attackers wearing masks. He expressed confidence that police would use evidence to track down suspects and determine if they were connected to a student accused of bullying Javits. He cautioned against assuming the alleged bully’s involvement without proof.

The investigation must establish if the killing was retaliation for bullying and punishment, Smith stated on Channel One TV. Residents of the Bronx neighbourhood where Javits was killed plan a vigil on Thursday, November 5, to remember the teenager and protest youth violence.
