Beyla identifies 33 tourist sites
Access difficulties and poor road conditions hinder the development of natural and historical attractions.
Beyla, Guinea has identified 33 tourist sites, including the Famoila and Samiadou waterfalls and the historic Samory Touré house. The region's diverse heritage includes natural sites, historical locations, and memorial spaces. However, the development and promotion of these attractions face significant challenges.
Mamady Kassia Doumbouya, Beyla's prefectural director for Culture, Tourism, and Handicrafts, stated that 33 sites have been cataloged. These include the Famoila falls in Moussadou and Samiadou falls in Beyla's urban commune, as well as Bembéya spring and the Place des Martyrs. Doumbouya noted that the round house at the Place des Martyrs is a historic structure where Almamy Samory Touré stayed.
The prefectural services have begun developing the Place des Martyrs, transforming it into an open-air space next to the historic round house. Further projects are planned for Bembéya spring, but their realization depends on technical preparation and resource mobilization. Access issues and the condition of roads, especially during the rainy season, remain major obstacles to tourism development.
Why it mattersThe natural and historical tourist sites in Beyla are underdeveloped due to poor road access, preventing their full potential from being realized.
