Man Faces Jail for Illegally Obtaining Nationality

Michael Germán Tsanga Bindang is accused of fraud and improperly acquiring citizenship, with the state as the injured party.

A court is considering charges against Michael Germán Tsanga Bindang for alleged fraud and the improper acquisition of Equatoguinean nationality. The Public Prosecutor's office stated that the alleged actions undermine public trust and the legal framework governing nationality. They are seeking a three-year prison sentence and a fine of 5,750,000 CFA francs for each offense, along with compensation for fraud victims.

The defense has denied the accusations, arguing for the defendant's acquittal due to a lack of conclusive evidence. The court also heard cases involving alleged drug trafficking, with prosecutors seeking three-year sentences and fines for two other defendants, Sunday Ozoagu and Federico Pedro Mandumbi. One admitted to being a regular marijuana user.

These proceedings are part of the Litoral Provincial Court's efforts to resolve pending cases. The court will now review the evidence and arguments presented by both the prosecution and defense before issuing its rulings in the coming days.
