Kenya records second Ebola death
A 65-year-old woman, a contact of the first patient, died after developing symptoms on October 13.
Kenya has recorded its second death from Ebola, a 65-year-old woman who was a close family member of the country's first patient. The Ministry of Health confirmed the death on Friday evening, bringing the total fatalities to two among nine confirmed cases.
The woman developed symptoms on October 13 while under quarantine and was admitted to an infectious disease unit the same day. She received supportive care but died early Friday. Health officials are working with her family on a safe burial. Seven patients remain under treatment in isolation facilities.
All nine confirmed cases are linked to a single cluster of known contacts, and the ministry stated there is currently no evidence of community transmission. Authorities urged the public to avoid contact with bodily fluids of sick people and to practice regular handwashing.
