The national police force marked its 65th anniversary with public outreach and recruitment drives.

Madagascar's national police force celebrated its 65th anniversary this year, focusing on community engagement and infrastructure development. The Ministry of Public Security equipped officers to better serve the public under the theme 'Malagasy National Police protecting and helping the people'. Events included an open house at the National Library in Ampefiloha, which concluded yesterday, showcasing police services.

Community outreach activities featured health screenings, including free tests for breast and cervical cancer, and diabetes checks, organized by the Association of Police Wives and Female Police Officers (Fivapova). A nationwide blood donation drive was also initiated on September 30th. To increase police presence, recruitment efforts are underway, with 500 agent trainees heading to Eniap in Antsirabe and further selections for 20 commissioners, 30 inspectors, and 850 police agents.

The goal is to reach an international standard of three police officers per 100 people, compared to the current ratio of one officer per 3,000 people. Regional public security directors were officially installed in Boeny, Melaky, Betsiboka, and Sofia on October 16th, strengthening local police accessibility.
