Madagascar U23 team wins fifth friendly match
The national U23 team, the Barea, defeated Bongolava 8-0 in their sixth preparation match for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Madagascar U23 team, known as the Barea, secured their fifth victory in a series of preparation matches by defeating the Bongolava selection 8-0. This win occurred on the synthetic pitch in Tsiroanomandidy, as the team continues its training camp two weeks before the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Coach Herimanitra Rabeharisoa, also known as "Hery Be," noted improvements in the team's game organization and scoring but highlighted that some details still require attention. The day prior, a reserve team beat the Itasy senior selection 2-1 in Analavory, though performance declined in the second half due to the unlevel dirt pitch.
The local pre-selection has now recorded five wins and one draw, with their next challenge being against South Africa's Bafana Bafana in the second qualifying round, scheduled for November 13 in Mauritius and November 17 in South Africa. Head coach Boualem Mankour has joined the staff in France to finalize preparations for expatriate players.
