Mauritania president returns from Dakar summit
President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani attended the Dakar Summit on Sport and Sustainable Development and the Youth Olympic Games opening.
President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani returned to Nouakchott on Saturday evening after participating in the Dakar Summit on Sport and Sustainable Development in Senegal's capital. He also attended the opening ceremony of the "Dakar 2026" Summer Youth Olympic Games.
Upon arrival at Nouakchott International Airport, the president was welcomed by Prime Minister Mohamed Ould Béchir and several other ministers, including the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. A delegation including the First Lady, Dr. Mariam Fadil Dah, and the Minister of Youth, Employment, Sports, and Civil Service accompanied him.
The president's participation in the summit highlights Mauritania's engagement with continental initiatives aimed at leveraging sports for broader societal progress.
