Air Mauritius reports Rs 4.1 billion profit for 2025-2026

The national airline's positive equity of Rs 1.37 billion returns after being negative since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Air Mauritius announced a profit of Rs 4.1 billion for the 2025-2026 financial year. This result, released on Friday, October 30, 2026, includes accounting adjustments from the Covid-19 pandemic and unrealised gains from monetary asset and liability revaluations.

The profit also accounts for re-evaluated provisions for flight ticket refunds, unused travel vouchers issued during the pandemic, and favourable fuel prices and a strong euro. Air Mauritius's equity has returned to a positive Rs 1.37 billion, a significant recovery from its negative state post-pandemic.

Despite the positive figures, the board urged caution, noting that high fuel prices in 2026-2027 cannot be fully passed on to ticket prices. CEO André Viljoen stated the results are encouraging but called for continued effort, as favourable exchange rates and fuel prices are not guaranteed for the next fiscal year.

Why it mattersAir Mauritius, the national airline, has returned to profitability and positive equity, benefiting shareholders and the company's financial standing.
