Namibia diesel price passes N$30 per litre
Petrol also rises as higher shipping costs and a weaker currency increase fuel import expenses.
Motorists in Namibia will pay over N$30 per litre for diesel starting tomorrow, November 4, 2026, following a N$3 per litre increase. Petrol 95 will also rise by N$2 per litre to N$28.58. These changes come as Namibian households and businesses face mounting financial pressure from rising fuel, interest rates, and food prices.
Industries, Mines and Energy Minister Modestus Amutse announced that 50ppm diesel will cost N$30.86 and 10ppm diesel N$30.96 per litre in Walvis Bay. The increases are attributed to higher international shipping costs, a weaker Namibian dollar, and global oil market uncertainty. Combined shipping and demurrage costs rose significantly, impacting fuel import expenses.
The National Energy Fund (NEF) faces depletion, with an expected N$384 million in under-recoveries for October. The government aims to protect the fund, which has been under pressure since April and May. Despite these increases, the minister assured the nation of adequate fuel stocks and a stable supply system.
