Niger association condemns Chadian drone attack

The 'Kungiyar hadin Kay da cigaba' group criticizes the October 24-25 incident in Emi Lulu and alleges French influence.

The social cohesion association 'Kungiyar hadin Kay da cigaba' condemned a Chadian drone attack in Emi Lulu, Agadez region, on the night of October 24-25, 2026. The group called on Niger's authorities to take appropriate measures against what they termed a betrayal from a friendly nation.

The association described the attack as "abject and perfidious," expressing shock that it came from Chad, previously considered a friend. They criticized current Chadian leaders as "puppets" acting on behalf of France, while praising Niger's authorities for their restraint and strategic vision.

The group highlighted Niger's recent military cooperation agreement with Algeria, including the deployment of Algerian forces, as a measure to secure the region. They noted significant investments in the area, such as the trans-Saharan highway, a gas pipeline, and a planned railway, aimed at restoring Agadez's past importance as a trade hub.

Why it mattersNiger's authorities are called upon to respond to a drone attack and alleged foreign interference impacting regional security and investment.
