1,729 graduates urged to create jobs in Rwanda
Rwanda aims to create 1.25 million new jobs by 2029, requiring innovation and entrepreneurship from graduates.
INES-Ruhengeri graduated 1,729 students on Thursday, October 30, in Musanze district. The graduates completed bachelor’s and master’s programs at the Institute of Applied Sciences. University leaders encouraged the graduates to create their own employment opportunities rather than solely seeking them.
Dr. Olivier Habimana, Director in charge of Technology and Research at the Higher Education Council, told graduates that innovation and entrepreneurship are essential for meeting Rwanda's employment goals. He noted that government institutions have limited vacancies, urging graduates to use their skills to start businesses and employ others.
Rwanda has set a target of creating 1.25 million new jobs by 2029. Dr. Habimana stated that all these jobs will require innovation to address the country’s ambitious vision and limited formal sector positions.
