OMS pledges continued support for Sao Tome and Principe health programs

The World Health Organization will bolster efforts against malaria, tuberculosis, and health emergencies.

The World Health Organization (OMS) will continue to support Sao Tome and Principe in combating malaria, tuberculosis, and other diseases, while also strengthening national capacities for preventing and responding to health emergencies. This commitment was affirmed by the new OMS representative, Marjorie Mupandaré, after presenting her credentials to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ilza Amado Vaz.

Mupandaré stated that Sao Tome and Principe is on a positive trajectory with its national public health program. She assured continued technical assistance and close collaboration with national authorities to address key sector challenges, particularly in public health and health emergency management. The OMS representative also met with the Minister of Health, Celso Matos, to discuss the country's health situation and cooperation priorities.
