Sao Tome police hold cancer awareness fair

The National Police's Agua Grande district command hosted a fair promoting early detection of breast and cervical cancers.

The National Police held a fair at its Agua Grande district command to raise awareness about breast and cervical cancer prevention. The event, themed "Together for the prevention of breast cancer," coincided with October, the month dedicated to breast cancer awareness.

Sub-Commissioner Daniela Cunha, director of Public Relations and Cooperation, stated that the fair saw good participation and met expectations. The initiative aimed to educate security sector personnel, especially women, about the importance of early detection for these diseases affecting women in Sao Tome and Principe.

The fair also featured a commercial aspect, with the sale of handicrafts from women in the Prison and Social Reintegration Services, palm wine, fruits, vegetables, and pork. Agent Lisete Furtado noted that products made by inmates were also displayed and sold.
