Chad officials meet to manage herder arrivals

Loug-Chari department officials are planning a mission to inform nomadic herders about arrival dates.

Officials in Chad's Loug-Chari department met on Friday, November 6, 2026, to plan how to inform nomadic herders about arrival restrictions. The meeting, chaired by Sougouma Hassaballah Ahmat, president of the Departmental Peace Committee (CODEPAR), aimed to ensure herders do not arrive before December 15, 2026.

The meeting focused on strategies to widely communicate the official message to herders. This initiative seeks to prevent potential conflicts between pastoral and farming communities and maintain peace. CODEPAR aims to facilitate peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders in the region.

The decision prohibits herder arrivals in the Loug-Chari department before December 15, 2026. The meeting was held at the ANADER offices in Bousso.
