Museveni asks EU investors to boost Uganda manufacturing

President Museveni urged European investors to expand in manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure to create jobs and grow markets.

President Yoweri Museveni has called on European investors to increase their presence in Uganda's manufacturing, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure sectors. He met with European Union ambassadors and investors at State House Entebbe, emphasizing that productive investment is key to job creation and economic growth. Museveni highlighted Africa's large and growing population as a significant opportunity for European businesses seeking new markets.

The President stressed Uganda's need for investments that boost domestic production and strengthen trade ties with Europe. He welcomed infrastructure projects that connect Uganda to wider markets, stating they benefit both investors and the nation. Museveni also identified the cost of electricity as a barrier for Ugandan manufacturers and called for attention to electricity tariffs, railway transport, and access to financing.

Museveni urged the European Investment Bank to increase funding for strategic infrastructure, including railways and electricity. He also pointed to the Uganda Development Bank as a resource for businesses focused on expanding production and creating jobs. The government reaffirmed its commitment to tax incentives aimed at attracting investment, particularly in manufacturing.
