Zimbabwe gazettes Cabora Bassa petroleum agreement

The government has formalised the framework for developing the nation's petroleum resources.

Zimbabwe has advanced its Cabora Bassa oil and gas project by gazetting the Petroleum Production Sharing Agreement (PPSA). The government published the agreement in the Government Gazette last Friday under General Notice 2101 of 2026.

This formalisation follows the agreement's signing in May between the Government, Australia-based Invictus Energy, and its 80%-owned subsidiary, Geo Associates (Private) Limited. The gazetting provides public and legal recognition of the fiscal, commercial, and regulatory arrangements for the project.

The PPSA establishes the framework for developing Zimbabwe’s emerging petroleum resources.
