Congo Terminal installs 65 dock fenders at Môle Est
The rubber and steel buffers protect ships from impact during docking operations at Pointe-Noire port.
Congo Terminal has begun installing 65 dock fenders along a 750-meter stretch of the Môle Est in Pointe-Noire. The first phase will see 35 fenders installed by year-end on 400 meters of the quay, with the remaining 30 to be fitted on the next 350 meters in early 2027.
These high-resistance rubber and steel fenders act as giant shock absorbers, safeguarding vessels from collision damage upon docking. Jérôme MOUILLE, QHSE Manager for the Môle Est Project at Congo Terminal, stated that these fenders are the primary protection for every ship calling at the quay, emphasizing that operational safety is the company's standard.
This installation is a concrete step for the Môle Est project, aimed at enhancing Congo Terminal's capacity and supporting the growth of port activities in Pointe-Noire and the wider sub-region. Congo Terminal, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics, is the exclusive operator for container and roll-on/roll-off vessel handling at the port.
Why it mattersThe installation of dock fenders at Pointe-Noire port ensures safer operations for ships and supports the development of port activities.
