PDG plans 13th ordinary congress for November

Gabon's ruling party will hold its congress from November 27-29 to restructure and revitalize its organization.

The Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) will hold its 13th ordinary congress from November 27 to 29, 2026. Preparations for the event, aimed at revitalizing and restructuring the party, were initiated on October 22 in Libreville. A committee for organization must be in place by October 27.

Party leaders, including Blaise Louembé, met on October 22 at the party headquarters to validate the preparation steps. The congress is intended to translate ambitions for renewal into concrete decisions and strengthen the party's structure. The PDG faces the challenge of redefining its place in the Gabonese political system.

Proposals from five thematic commissions, formulated during an October 9-11 workshop, were presented to officials. The upcoming congress is seen as a critical moment for the PDG to clarify its direction, reorganize its structures, and re-mobilize its members.
