GAFET donates fertiliser for Farmers' Day
The Ghana Agricultural Fund for Education and Transformation provided 1,000 bags of organic fertiliser for the 42nd National Farmers’ Day.
The Ghana Agricultural Fund for Education and Transformation (GAFET) donated 1,000 bags of 10-kilogramme organic fertiliser for the upcoming 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration in December. The donation aims to support the recognition of farmers, especially young people, for their contributions to food production.
GAFET Lead Coordinator, Mr Steven Nhyira Odarteifio, presented the fertiliser to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Accra yesterday. He stated the gesture supports government efforts to reward farmers and was motivated by contributions from patriots towards the event. Mr Odarteifio, who is also the incoming National Youth Organiser for the NDC, highlighted the need for policies addressing youth aspirations in agriculture.
Mr Odarteifio encouraged more young people to embrace organic agriculture and sustainable farming practices. He noted that supporting farmers with inputs motivates them to sustain efforts towards improving food production. The Chairman of the National Farmers’ Day Celebration Committee, Mr John Dumelo, received the donation and expressed gratitude.
Why it mattersHardworking farmers, particularly young people, will be recognised and rewarded for their contributions to food production and national development.
