Darboe pledges 24-hour power for Gambia's hospitals

The opposition leader also vowed to improve maternal healthcare and fight corruption if elected president.

United Democratic Party leader Ousainou Darboe pledged to ensure 24-hour electricity for Gambian hospitals and improve maternal healthcare if his party wins the December presidential election. Darboe stated that quality healthcare is a fundamental right for all Gambians, regardless of their location.

Speaking from his Pipeline residence, Darboe said a UDP government would equip hospitals with reliable power and essential medical equipment. He also plans to increase public health education to reduce maternal and infant mortality, arguing that power outages should not endanger patients.

Darboe also vowed to combat corruption and wasteful spending, promising to restore accountability and transparency in government. He asserted that public funds would be used for the benefit of Gambians, not squandered on low-value projects.

Why it mattersGambia's hospitals will receive reliable electricity and better maternal care under a potential UDP government.
