The Institute of Engineers Rwanda (IER) and MUA Insurance signed a partnership agreement on Wednesday, October 28, at MUA's headquarters. This collaboration aims to provide Rwanda's Engineering Practitioners with specialized insurance products, reduced rates, and risk-management training. The agreement covers engineers, technologists, technicians, and consulting firms represented by IER.
IER President Eng. Philbert Mbanza stated the partnership will help members secure cover for risks in design, construction, and on-site work, making it more profitable for both parties. MUA's Konde Bugingingo added that the insurer was chosen for its strong interest and broad cover options, and that pooling members could lower costs compared to individual policies.
The deal is expected to boost IER membership, which has over 5,000 members and grows by 25% annually. Professional indemnity insurance, though not mandatory, is being discussed as a key offering. MUA plans to develop services based on risk data to improve safety and expects the partnership to increase public confidence in infrastructure projects.
