Sierra Leone mandates electronic procurement for 16 institutions
The National Public Procurement Authority requires all 16 institutions to use the e-GP system from November 1, 2026.
16 public institutions in Sierra Leone must now use the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System for all their purchasing activities. The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) made this mandatory starting November 1, 2026, to improve how public money is spent.
The directive applies to ministries like Finance, Health, and Education, along with bodies such as the National Revenue Authority and the Bank of Sierra Leone. The NPPA stated this move follows the Public Procurement Act of 2016 and aims to increase transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Institutions needing to procure outside the system must get written approval and justification from the NPPA.
The NPPA's Chief Executive Officer, Fodie J. Konneh, signed the circular, which aims to reduce delays and ensure better value for money. Failure to comply could lead to procurement activities being declared non-compliant with Sierra Leone's laws.
Why it matters16 government institutions in Sierra Leone will now conduct all procurement electronically, affecting how they spend public funds.
